Carly Reis b. 1987

Carly Ries (b. 1987) works across photography, film, and book form. Rooted in queer and feminist perspectives, their practice explores new ways of understanding bodies in photographic space. Playing with reflective materials and re-photographed images, Ries utilizes perceptual thresholds to underscore the materiality of the photograph.

Ries's photographs and photobooks are held in private and public collections, including: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Rijksmuseum, The Morgan Library & Museum, The Photography Collection of The New York Public Library, and The Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection.

Ries lives and works in New York City.
